Psalms 1: 1-4

Sermon Notes

Walk In

Psalms 1: 1-4  Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers.

The key word in the psalm is the word blessed. It serves here as a pronouncement upon a man - but a certain kind of man. In essence, the psalm is teaching that the blessed or happy man is the righteous man. The happy man avoids evil influences, deeds, and attitudes. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous [and it will be blessed], but [He also knows] the way of the ungodly [and it] shall perish.
